OUR ACTIONS

MOBILE MEDICAL UNITS

Having launched action in January 2014, the experienced scientific staff with various specialties and two fully-equipped MMUs make up an innovative and holistic health promotion programme.

The MMUs are equipped, among others, with a digital mammography unit, a dental unit, a portable X-ray machine and a bone density scanner, enabling the scientific staff to set up and organize a clinic in the most suitable public space of each area in no more than two hours. Each mission is individualized, taking into account the particular needs of the local community.

Their aim is to provide free Primary Health Care (PHC) to the permanent residents of hard-to-reach islands and remote regions all over Greece.

The Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) are an initiative undertaken by Stavros Niarchos Foundation and are implemented by the civil non-profit-making organization Regeneration & Progress in cooperation with  Health Units SA (AEMY SA) under the scientific supervision of the 1st Orthopedic Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA), with the exclusive financial support of SNF.

SPORTS EXCELLENCE

Develops scientific support methods and consultative interventions for talented young athletes (assessment of performance, health records, monitoring, counselling) with a view to their ongoing evolution into elite sport athletes. To this end, it cooperates with the Hellenic Olympic Committee (H.O.C.), national federations, associations and municipalities.

SPORT PATHS

Since the summer of 2015, sports programmes have been organized on hard-to-reach islands on the initiative and with the exclusive financial support of Stavros Niarchos Foundation. It is a programme for promoting sports education through actions that boost mental and physical health. Its aim is to improve quality of life for children on remote islands of the Aegean Sea. Sports Paths are carried out under the scientific supervision of the 1st Orthopedic Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA) .

SNFCC ACTIVITIES

Regeneration & Progress is responsible for organizing and implementing, with the cooperation of experienced scientists, daily mass-participation activities for children and adults of all ages in the areas of the Park at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC). Activities are free of charge and are carried out with the exclusive financial support of Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

The programmes are designed and implemented by specially trained physical education teachers under the scientific supervision of the 1st Orthopedic Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA).
