A new action for athletes and coaches of the National Team Federations, entitled “Abstention from training: The next day”, was carried out, as part of the on line seminars, on 6 May 2020 at 20:00 – 22:00. The rapporteurs, distinguished scientists with extensive experience as well as rich scientific and writing output, were the following:  Mr. Grigorios Bogdanis, PhD, Professor at the School of Physical Education and Sport Science (SEFAA) of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA), who gave a presentation on “Changes in endurance, muscle strength and power as a result of a sharp decrease in volume and/or intensity of training: performance and physiological mechanisms”, Ms Olivia Donti, PhD, Assistant Professor at the School of Physical Education and Sport Science of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, who gave a presentation on “Abstention from training and flexibility”,  Mr Argyris Toubekis, PhD, Associate Professor at the School of Physical Education and Sport Science of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, who gave a presentation on “Detraining in aquatics” and Mr Vasileios Mougios, PhD, Professor at the School of Physical Education and Sport Science of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, who gave a presentation on “Biochemical changes in detraining”. Finally, a round of questions was asked in the form of discussion, which was coordinated by Mr Charis Tsolakis, Professor at the School of Physical Education and Sport Science of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Director of the Sports Excellence programme, and by Mr Panagiotis Koulouvaris, Assistant Professor at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Scientific Coordinator of  Sports Excellence. Through constructive dialogue 

Moreover, the Sports Excellence team was greeted and congratulated on the initiative by prominent personalities in the field of sports, such as Mr George Mavrotas, Secretary General of Sport, Mr Savvas Tomakidis, Teaching and Research Staff Member, Emeritus Professor, Ms Maria Psichoundaki, Associate Professor of Psychology, and Mr. Spyros Gianniotis, World Champion.

More than 500 people participated in the seminar via zoom and YouTube.
