On the five (5) islands where they are carried out, Sports Paths have adapted their programme to the current conditions, supporting residents of the islands through on line programmes.
Daily videos of the day’s programme and suggestions for children’s creative engagement.
In the first video of the pilates programme our collaborator points out:
It is no accident that this type of exercise was selected, since, as we know, we are being hard hit by Coronavirus. During World War I, Joseph Pilates, prisoner of war, taught, during detention, his method to his fellow inmates, all of whom he managed to keep alive after a serious influenza epidemic in 1918. He then served as a nurse at the end of the war, attending to amputated soldiers. He used springs from their beds to help them do muscle strengthening exercises and it was observed that exercise contributed to their faster recovery.
In the same way, we continue to exercise on a daily basis in order to remain healthy! All we need is an exercise mat or a towel…
We stay at home and exercise!
