The new five-year cycle for Mobile Medical Units (MMU) began with the visit of the units to the picturesque and hospitable Sidirokastro of Messinia from 26.01.19 to 28.01.19 as part of the implementation of the National Primary Care Program, with the exclusive support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation . The 40th Mission of the KIM and the Health Team, which consisted of the following Specialties: Radiologist, Pathologist, General Surgeon, Gynecologist, Cardiologist, Neurologist, Dentist, Orthopedic, Oftalmologist, Paediatrician, Otorhinolaryngologist, Dietician, Psychologist, has provided free health services to residents of the area.
More than 600 residents from Sidirokastro and the surrounding areas had the opportunity to receive high quality medical care and a total of 841 medical appointments were performed and 263 people were examined. Among others, 173 ultrasounds, 63 electrocardiograms & triplex hearts, 58 PAP tests, 74 mammograms, 52 Bone Density measurements were performed and 3 microvessels took place.
Along with the operation of the clinics, as well as in each mission, the following informative talks and actions were conducted: Speeches “Learning difficulties”, “Parents and Child” by the psychologist, “Nutritional Recommendations” by the nutritionist, “I decide not to smoke” the health visitor. A First Aid Training by the General Surgeon and Ophthalmological Control to all pupils in kindergarten and elementary school.

The MMU program of “Renaissance & Progress” is implemented on remote islands and remote areas, using the 2 state-of-the-art KIMs and all the specialized equipment, under the scientific supervision of the 1st Orthopedic Clinic of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, in collaboration with AEMY, with the exclusive support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
